Everyone seems to know someone that is an expert on wart removal. Home remedies have been passed down for generations. There is in fact a methods that can remove warts in only a few days. The reason that everyone wants to remove their wart using home remedies is because no one really wants to pay a visit to the doctor over a wart. That is, unless it is a very serious wart problem. For the most part, we just want to get rid of it ourselves. There are 3 popular home remedies being discussed pretty frequently on the internet.

• The Duct Tape method
• The Apple-Cider Vinegar method
• The Cut Potato method

The Duct Tape method is pretty straight forward; just put duct tape on the wart for about two weeks or until it disappears. However, it’s a popular method of wart removal only because of its simplicity, and it still may not work for everyone. It makes your immune system respond to the tape, thus battling the virus at the same time. Since everyone’s immune system is different, it may or may not work for you. Plus, if the wart is on your face… well you get the picture.

The Apple-Cider Vinegar method involves soaking a piece of cotton in the vinegar, then applying it to the wart and covering it with a band aid. It works about as fast as the duct tape method. The active ingredient is the acid in the vinegar. It doesn’t kill the virus that caused the wart, but it soaks in to the skin and allows the top layer, along with the wart, to peel off. But beware, this home remedy can damage surrounding skin and leave a scar.

The Cut Potato methods seem to be more of a “wives tale” than wart removal, home remedies. The theory is to put a cut potato on the wart for 15 minutes every day until the wart magically disappears. The success rate and the time it takes for the wart to disappear is about the same that you could expect if you did nothing and let the wart heal on its own. Yet, some people swear by this method, so it may have some merit.

Fox Television’s American Idol is undeniably television’s biggest show today. It has been the highest rated show for the last seven years, garnering rating that other shows cannot even duplicate. Perhaps this is because the show combines two common interests of people: music and drama. Because of this, American Idol has a very deep talent pool-from Grammy Award winners to Oscar Award recipients. Here’s a look at some of the songs that American Idol made popular over its several years of being on the air. These would include original music and songs and revived songs that have lyrics already engraved in the consciousness of people.

“Because of You,” by Kelly Clarkson

Kelly Clarkson is one of the few American Idol contestants who attained superstar status n the music world. Her list of hits is aplenty, yet nothing encapsulates her achievements better than “Because of You.” Clarkson is one of the songwriters who wrote the lyrics for this song, and the lyrics of “Because of You” are definitely responsible for the success it attained. Note the lyrics of the song, which is not overly complex but perfectly illustrates a whole range of emotions. “Because of you / I never stray too far from the sidewalk / Because of you / I learned to play on the safe side so I don’t get hurt / Because of you / I find it hard to trust not only me, but everyone around me / Because of you / I am afraid,” goes the lyrics of this hit song. It may take a while before Clarkson can create music and lyrics as successful as this.

“Alone,” performed by Carrie Underwood

Carrie Underwood, another successful American Idol alumnus, has written and co-written lyrics for a number of her songs. However, fans of the show will never forget her take on this popular song by the band Heart. The lyrics of this song is typical, reflecting the popular style of the lyrics during the 1980s, when the song was first released. Yet the lyrics of “Alone” and its overall composition are contemporary enough to survive a revival. Many say that Underwood’s defining moment in the song was when she performed this song.

“Home,” by Chris Daughtry

While he didn’t win the competition, Chris Daughtry is already considered as an accomplished musician. In fact, less than a year after his stint in American Idol, he already released a hit song, “Home,” the lyrics of which he wrote. The lyrics of this song has poignant, nostalgic feel, fitting its title and its music. Because of the lyrics (and the quality of the song, of course), it was used as an exit song in one of the American Idol seasons.

“The Time of My Life,” David Cook

The first single of American Idol winners is often met with criticism. David Cook’s “The Time of My Life” is no different. With lyrics such as “I’ve been waiting for my dreams / To turn into something / I could believe in / And looking for that / Magic rainbow / On the horizon ,” it feels as if it is from a Disney Movie soundtrack. Yet, perhaps because of the song and the lyrics’ appeal, as well as Cook’s popularity, “The Time of My Life” became one of the biggest original songs from the show.

Allergies, Home Remedies

Runny nose, swollen eyes, rashes, hives – any one of these can indicate that you have an allergy to something in your environment. An allergy occurs when your body is exposed to something it doesn’t like. Not everyone has an allergy, but if you have a cold which has hung on for more than a week, or a rash, you are probably experiencing the wonderful world of allergies.

The worst problem with allergies is they can make you feel miserable. You feel stuffed up, you sneeze, you itch. The good news is you don’t have to suffer. Aside from getting a series of desensitizing shots from your doctor, there are many things you can do in your own home to get rid of your allergy problems.

Get Moving!
Believe it or not, cutting edge allergy experts now say that one of the primary causes of allergies is pure physical laziness. If you don’t move, sooner or later something’s going to catch up to you, and that something is often an allergy.

If you get up, get out and get more exercise, you will greatly reduce your risk of suffering from allergic reactions of any kind. If you have a lot of allergies, increase your daily exercise by 1 to 2 hours. Walks or bike rides in the fresh air are great for oxygenating your lungs, brain — and entire body.

Eat Better!
It’s as simple as this — a poor diet makes you weak. If you eat a lot of junk food, and very little good food, meaning fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, you hamstring your body’s immune system. With a poor diet, you have no ammunition with which to fight off outside irritants. In short, you develop allergies to those things most other people are strong enough to resist. So while you get more exercise, reform your diet, and watch your allergies dwindle.

Eliminate Irritants
Obviously, you should take care to avoid that which bugs you — pet dander, pollen, dust mites and mold. Keep your house very clean. Vacuum and dust regularly to control dust mite and pet dander problems. Also, wipe down damp areas, like the bathroom, regularly with disinfectant to control mold growth. If your allergies are fairly mild, these steps will usually keep your problems under control.

Go Further
For some people, this is not enough. If your reactions continue to be severe, you might have to isolate or give away Fluffy and Fido. If you are allergic to pet dander, the last thing you want is to have your furry friends anywhere near the area where you sleep, because you don’t want to breathe in their dander for eight solid hours. You might also try covering your bed in plastic and investing in synthetic Dacron pillows. This will cut down on places for pet dander and dust mites to hide.

Re-Do the Floor Plan
Rip up your carpets and put down linoleum and throw rugs. Wall-to-wall carpeting is bad news for allergies because tightly woven carpeting material can harbor dust mites, dander, pollen, and mold which even the best steam cleaner can’t help.

Get and Air Conditioner
Air conditioners can help filter out pollens while dehumidifying the air in your house so mold cannot grow. Make sure you periodically clean out the air conditioner with a disinfectant, because in wet climates, air conditioners can also be a major producer of mold spores.

Air Cleaner
Invest in an industrial strength air cleaner which bolts on to your central air and heating unit. These can be expensive, but they remove potentially harmful particles from every room in your house. The room-size air cleaners can take certain particles out, like pollen, but there is nothing to keep more allergens from floating from other rooms.

Over the Counter
It pays to invest in over-the-counter antihistamines, which can take care of your runny nose and other symptoms. They work to a certain extent.
